Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Town Planner for a hybrid role in Chipping Norton. The successful candidate will work with experienced planners, supporting clients in developing and delivering planning strategies across diverse UK projects.

Requirements include a degree in Town Planning, familiarity with the UK planning system, and strong written/verbal communication. MRTPI status or progression towards accreditation is welcomed; a proactive, team-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
• Experience in public or private sector (graduates considered).
• Good understanding of the UK planning system and legislation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; research, analytical and organisational abilities.
• Proactive approach, commercial awareness; ability to work independently and in a team.
• Chartered MRTPI status, or working towards accreditation where appropriate.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Town Planner

Location: Chipping Norton / Hybrid Working

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a growing and highly regarded planning consultancy in the appointment of Graduate and Planner-level Town Planners to join its expanding team.

Working across a diverse portfolio of projects throughout the UK, the consultancy provides specialist planning advice, drawing on extensive knowledge of planning policy, legislation, precedents and local authorities. Its clients operate across a variety of sectors, including Tourism & Leisure, Residential, Commercial, Agricultural, Country Estates and Strategic Land Development.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Town Planner to join an established and growing organisation, gaining exposure to a wide range of interesting and often complex development projects.

The Role

As a Town Planner, you will work both independently and collaboratively with experienced planning professionals, supporting clients in developing and delivering successful planning strategies. Responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications.
• Undertaking planning appraisals, research and policy assessments.
• Attending client meetings and site visits.
• Preparing written reports and providing planning advice.
• Monitoring planning applications, policy changes and relevant developments.
• Supporting the development of planning strategies for a varied client portfolio.

About You

• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• Previous experience within either the public or private sector (graduate applicants will also be considered).

• A proactive approach, commercial awareness and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Chartered MRTPI status, or be working towards professional accreditation, where appropriate to experience level.
