Overview

WHO WE ARE

At GoFibre were on an exciting journey to revolutionise broadband capabilities for homes and businesses in rural towns and villages across Scotland and the north of England, connecting communities and affording them digital capability equal to their city counterparts; whilst being as environmentally conscious as possible, and creating social value in the areas we serve.

Our story is only just beginning. Were growing fast and we dont intend to slow down anytime soon as we play our part in ensuring future-proof full fibre coverage. We continue to raise investment for our infrastructure, service and people through our top-notch partnerships, and were confident and enthusiastic about what is coming next for the GoFibre family, as we strive to connect hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses. We have fantastic offices to allow colleagues to connect and catch up, one in central Edinburgh (with stunning 360 views of the city) and another in the coastal town of Berwick Upon Tweed; both a short walk from transport links.

How we work

Collaboration, innovation, commitment, continual improvement of our business and ourselves, are the cornerstones of what creates our collective success. No two days are the same; the landscape is constantly changing, and we think on our feet, move fast and tackle challenges and opportunities head on. Were always learning and we thrive under pressure, because we support one another and have some laughs along the way. Were all in this together, as we navigate the road less travelled, pushing the boundaries of what we can deliver and the professionals we can become. We take care of each other and care about work-life balance and wellbeing.

The Team

As a C# Developer, youll work day-to-day with other engineers, product and delivery colleagues, while collaborating closely with teams across the business to understand whats needed and translate that into practical, well-designed solutions. Youll have the space to contribute ideas, improve how things work, and help shape the systems we rely on as GoFibre continues to grow. The team works in an agile, iterative way, focusing on delivering value early, learning quickly, and continuously improving how we build and ship software.

Develop and enhance GoFibres core business systems, working closely with the Head of Software Engineering

Design, build and implement software solutions, contributing to and often leading technical design and architecture discussions

Build, maintain and improve integrations between internal systems

Support the design and development of additional software solutions in partnership with the Head of Software Engineering

Provide regular project updates to the leadership team, owning issues as they arise and driving them through to resolution

Produce clear, accurate and maintainable technical documentation

Contribute to technical and design decisions within the team and across squads

Carry out thorough and constructive code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency

Act as a role model for high-quality documentation and good engineering practices within the team

Lead and actively participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives

Deliver solutions with a focus on minimising ongoing operational overhead, with no direct people or budget management responsibilities

What you will bring to the role

Hands-on experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem, including integrating with Microsoft Dynamics

Solid experience working with PostgreSQL or other SQL-based databases

Practical experience building, consuming and maintaining APIs

Experience delivering software using CI / CD pipelines, ideally with GitLab, and working confidently with Git version control

Comfortable working in agile environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence
