Tool Stores Operator

First Achieve Engineering are working with a long-established and respected engineering manufacturer who specialise in the design and production of precision-engineered components used in highly regulated industries. Due to continued growth and investment, they are looking to add an experienced Tool Stores Operator to their team.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Stores & Logistics Manager, the Tool Stores Operator will be responsible for managing tooling and consumables used across the production floor. This is a hands‑on role that plays a key part in ensuring the smooth flow of materials, tools, and calibrated equipment to support ongoing manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Issue and replenish tooling and consumables, including raising purchase orders and managing tool vending systems.
  • Receive goods into stock using an ERP system (Epicor or similar), ensuring transactions are accurate.
  • Carry out daily stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records for consumables and tooling.
  • Prepare parts for dispatch and receive incoming deliveries.
  • Assist with calibration and maintenance of measuring instruments.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and efficient tool stores environment.
  • Ensure all tooling movements are logged, and Kardex/tool registers are kept up to date.
  • Support quality, health & safety, and environmental compliance in all store activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and 5S activities.
  • Undertake any other related duties as required.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
  • Previous experience within a stores or logistics environment (engineering or manufacturing preferred).
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of gauges, fixtures, and measuring equipment.
  • Competent IT skills, including Word and Excel.
  • Good numeracy and problem‑solving ability.
Desirable:
  • Experience managing tooling inventory.
  • Forklift licence or experience operating fork trucks.
  • Knowledge of 5S or Lean principles.
