Job Overview

Working alongside our client, a specialist injection moulding manufacturer, we are looking for a Toolroom Machinist to join their team.

Remit
  • As a Toolroom Machinist, working in a machine shop environment you will be responsible for operating both manual and CNC machinery to produce high-quality precision components to tight tolerances.
  • This is an excellent position offering ongoing training and professional development, with the opportunity to work in a modern, well-equipped workshop alongside a supportive team.
  • This role would suit a time-served Engineer, CNC Machinist, Precision Engineer or Toolroom Bench Hand with experience working within a precision manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC milling, turning and grinding machines.
  • Manufacture precision components from technical drawings and specifications.
  • Assist with tool assembly, fitting and maintenance as required.
  • Work with a variety of metals and engineering plastics.
  • Carry out quality checks to ensure all parts meet required standards.
  • Maintain workshop machinery and ensure a safe, tidy working environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and toolmakers to support ongoing projects.
Requirements
  • Time-served Engineer or hold an equivalent engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC).
  • Proven experience as a machinist or general engineer in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of injection moulding tooling is advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes and tooling.
  • Good problem‑solving skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, skilled team.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work and live in the UK.
