Job summary

A reputable recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Toolmaker for a permanent position in Mildenhall, Suffolk. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing, modifying, and maintaining production tooling while supporting production efficiency. Qualified candidates will possess experience in toolmaking and a Mechanical Engineering qualification. This role offers a competitive salary of up to £42,000 per annum and encompasses a proactive role in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Toolmaker Position – Mildenhall, Suffolk

Location: Mildenhall, Suffolk
Working hours: Monday to Friday – 08:00 to 17:00
Capacity of role: Permanent position
Salary: Paying up to £42,000 per annum.

Our client is currently recruiting for a toolmaker to join their busy manufacturing unit. This role is a hands‑on position that is focussing on the manufacture, maintenance and improvement of production tooling in a supportive and forward‑thinking environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manufacture, modify, repair and maintain production tooling and fixtures
  • Work with traditional tool room and workshop machinery
  • Support production by troubleshooting tooling issues and implementing improvements
  • Assist with tooling trials, testing and fault finding
  • Carry out preventative maintenance to ensure tooling reliability and longevity
  • Maintain accurate documentation relating to tooling and maintenance activities
  • Work within ISO quality and regulatory standards
  • Attend occasional UK/international travel for project‑related work
  • Participate in relevant training courses to support ongoing development
Candidate Attributes
  • Proven experience working as a Toolmaker or within a toolroom environment
  • Experience using toolroom/workshop‑based machinery
  • A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Toolmaking or equivalent hands‑on experience
  • A proactive, self‑motivated attitude and strong teamwork skills
  • Confidence with written and verbal communication, including MS Office
