Mould Toolmaker (with CNC Experience)

Overview

Our client have been manufacturing Injection Mould Tools for over 30 years. They supply Injection Mould Tools to a variety of industries including Automotive, Medical, Telecommunications and many more.

They are seeking an experienced Mould Toolmaker with strong CNC machining skills to join their team. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in building, repairing, and maintaining injection mould tools, along with the ability to operate and program CNC machines to precise tolerances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture, assemble, and repair injection mould tools, jigs, and fixtures
  • Set up, operate, and program CNC milling machines (Heidenhain controls)
  • Milling, turning and grinding
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and technical specifications
  • Perform precision machining, tooling adjustments, and finishing operations
  • Conduct tool trials, diagnose tooling issues, and implement corrective actions
  • Perform routine maintenance on new and existing mould tools
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and safety in the toolroom
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Mould Toolmaker (in injection moulding, die casting, blow moulding, or related toolmaking fields)
  • Strong CNC machining experience
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring instruments
  • Strong understanding of tool steels, machining processes, and toolroom equipment
  • Good problem‑solving ability and attention to detail
  • Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Toolmaking/Precision Engineering (preferred)
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of injection moulding processes
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple toolroom tasks
