Toolmaker (Precision Engineer)

Bedford, commutable from: Kettering, Cambridge, Northampton, Luton, Milton Keynes

£35,000 + Day Shifts (7am-3pm) + Overtime/Shift Premiums + Training + Private Health Insurance + 26 Days Holiday (+ BH)

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Fitter to join an innovative company during an exciting period of growth, taking on a key role in producing high‑precision components for world‑leading research projects.

On offer is a hands‑on position where you will work on unique, high‑value components used to manufacture scaled models for testing in an industry‑leading facility. This company operates one of the only facilities in the world that specialises in this niche field. They are now looking for a skilled Fitter to join their team and play a key part in the ongoing success and development of their globally recognised operation.

The day‑to‑day responsibilities of this role include precision fitting and assembly of model components, preparing and finishing parts to exacting tolerances, and contributing to process improvements within the fitting section.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive and detail‑oriented engineer who takes pride in producing work of the highest quality. Experience working within a precision manufacturing or model‑making environment would be highly advantageous.

The Role:
  • Precision Engineer, Model Maker, Manufacturing Engineer and all related job titles encouraged to apply
  • Carrying out all aspects of precision fitting and assembly of model components
  • Fitting and assembling precision components and pressure tubing
  • Monday to Friday, days‑based (38 hours per week)
The Person:
  • Time‑served, fully skilled engineer with experience in metal model making or precision fitting
  • Solid understanding of wider MMC skills such as EDM, turning, jig boring, grinding, and CNC machining
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to meet security clearance requirements (5 years' continual UK residency)
