Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a skilled Tool Maker for an industry-leading specialist located in the UK. The role involves manufacturing precision tools for the aviation and automotive sectors. Key responsibilities include assembling and repairing tools, adhering to safety procedures, and mentoring apprentices. The ideal candidate should have experience in precision machining and tool design using CAD software. Qualifications

  • Experience in precision machining including CNC operations.
  • Understanding of tooling design and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, fit, and repair tools following designs.
  • Perform tooling strip down and diagnosis for repair.
  • Use machining equipment to cut and shape tools.

Skills

Precision machining (manual and CNC: milling, turning, grinding, EDM)
Tooling design and manufacture (jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, gauges)
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings (GD&T, tolerances, surface finishes)
Metrology & inspection (micrometers, CMMs, optical comparators)
Material knowledge (tool steels, alloys, heat treatment effects)
CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam)
