Job summary

A leading recruitment agency seeks a Toolmaker to repair and maintain press tools in Stourbridge. The ideal candidate will have experience in tooling, with a keen attention to detail and strong communication skills. A reliable work ethic and ability to interpret technical drawings are essential. This position offers a temporary to permanent contract with competitive hourly rates.

Overview

Job Title: Toolmaker

Location: Stourbridge

Job Type: Temporary to Permanent

Salary: £12.21 - £14.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday

Responsibilities
  • Repair, maintain, and modify press tools to ensure optimal performance
  • Strip down, rebuild, and regrind tooling as required
  • Diagnose and resolve tooling issues using problem-solving techniques
  • Support production teams with tool try-outs and troubleshooting
  • Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping in the toolroom
  • Work independently and collaboratively to meet production deadlines
Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous experience as a Toolmaker or Bench-Hand
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic

Desirable:

  • Experience with progression tooling or tungsten carbide
  • Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification
  • Familiarity with CAD software
