Tobacco Dependency Advisor

Smoking tobacco is the cause of up to 20 years life lost for our mental health service users.

50% of smokers will die due to their addiction.

Providing services to our Mental Health Inpatient Wards at the Redwoods Centre in Shrewsbury.

Main duties of the job
  • Liaise with the Inpatient Mental Health Services to identify people who smoke admitted to the wards.
  • Assess and advise patients that they can stop smoking, and that support is available.
  • Recommend an individual quit plan, including behavioural support and Nicotine Replacement.
  • Advise and educate on the use of vapes as a tool for tobacco abstinence and cessation.
  • Engage in ongoing Quality Improvement as part of a continuous change cycle.
