Job summary

Protocol seeks a Construction Tutor (Wall & Floor Tiling) to deliver practical and theory-based tiling training on-site at HMP Brixton. You will guide learners, plan structured programmes, assess progress, and help them gain qualifications for employment upon release.

Ideal candidates have hands-on tiling experience, strong communication, and experience in training or education. A Level 2 or higher in tiling is required; teaching qualifications are desirable.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification (or above) in Wall & Floor Tiling.
• Experience delivering training, coaching, mentoring, or vocational instruction.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Salary: £30,000- £35,000 + £5,000 London Weighting Allowance

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Construction Tutor (Wall & Floor Tiling) to deliver high-quality vocational training within HMP Brixton. Vocational education plays a key role in reducing reoffending and improving life opportunities for individuals in custody.

The Role

Based on-site at HMP Brixton, you will work with small groups of learners, delivering engaging and practical training in Wall & Floor Tiling. You will support learners to develop industry-relevant skills, build confidence, achieve qualifications, and prepare for employment opportunities upon release.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering engaging practical and theory-based Wall & Floor Tiling training.

About You

Essential Requirements

• Level 2 qualification (or above) in Wall & Floor Tiling.
• Significant hands-on industry experience.
• Experience delivering training, coaching, mentoring, or vocational instruction.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable

• Teaching qualification (PTLLS, AET, CET, DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent).
• Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent).
• Experience working within prison education, adult learning, apprenticeships, or employability programmes.

If you do not currently hold a teaching or assessing qualification, support may be available to help you achieve the relevant qualification while in post.
