Overview

We are looking for a committed volunteer to manage our new TikTok channel, ideally as part of a long term role. We’re looking at growing our audience, and raising awareness for children with NKH, a rare and terminal metabolic disorder.

What difference will you make?

NKH is a terminal disorder - we want to give children with NKH real childhoods, more time with their families, more happy moments. When one in three children born with NKH aren\'t likely to see their first birthday, you will be helping to bring about change, by building awareness and reaching new donors. It will be because of the work you do, that one day, we\'ll be able give children with NKH a future. Until then, we seek to support and enrich the lives of children with NKH and their families.

What are we looking for?

The Mikaere Foundation supports children with Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia (NKH), a rare and complex condition. We’re a small charity with a big mission - and we need your creative spark to help us raise awareness and grow support through engaging social media content.

What You’ll Do

• Manage our TikTok account end-to-end - from strategy and content planning to production, posting, and analysing performance metrics
• Create authentic, eye-catching TikTok videos and social content that tell the stories of families, raise awareness of NKH, and showcase our charity’s impact, the aim of reaching potential donors
• Produce and edit high-quality photography, videography, and motion graphics, creating content that resonates
• Translate complex medical info into simple, compassionate, shareable contents
• Collaborate with our small team to brainstorm ideas, plan campaigns, and optimise content based on analytics
• Occasionally support fundraising outreach by creating tailored visuals or videos (with guidance)

What We’re Looking For

• A creative storyteller passionate about video and social media
• Skills in photography, video shooting, editing, and motion graphics (even if you’re still learning!)
• Experience or eagerness to manage social media accounts, including content strategy and analytics tracking
• A desire to use your talents to make a real difference for children with rare diseases
• Ability to work independently while staying connected to our friendly, supportive team

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a volunteer to help us grow our online presence and engage communities on TikTok. Ideally you\'d help us manage the account end-to-end, from strategy and content planning to production and analytics.

This might include creating photography, videography, editing, and motion graphics, using assets that we already have and/or creating new assets.

This is a flexible and rewarding role for someone who enjoys social media, and playing a part in a mission that directly improves the lives of children affected by NKH (a rare and terminal metabolic disorder). You won’t be doing this alone - this is a supported role. While you\'ll take the lead, you’ll work closely with our digital media trustee, and together we\'ll build a TikTok audience that make a difference. We\'d love you to bring your own ideas to the table, and stretch what we can do.
