Job summary

Accrofab Ltd in the East Midlands is recruiting a Welder for the Manufacturing department on the Day Shift. 39 hours per week with a flexible start between 07:00 and 08:00 and finish between 16:00 and 17:00, with Friday 12:00 finish.

A 30-minute unpaid lunch exists, plus 10-minute paid breaks each day. You will weld sheet metal and machined components, read data cards and drawings for machine setup, set up machines with required tooling, and perform TIG welding with measuring tools and hand

Qualifications

  • Experience in TIG welding on sheet metal and machined components.
  • Ability to read and interpret data cards and drawings for machine setup.
  • Set up machines with appropriate work holding and tooling.
  • Commitment to safety and 5S housekeeping standards.

Job description

We have a vacancy within our Manufacturing department and are currently recruiting for the role of Welder on the Day Shift. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and join a growing Organisation.

Shift Pattern:

39 hours each week with a flexible starting time between 07:00 and 08:00 Monday to Friday, with a flexible finish time between 16:00 and 17:00 Monday to Thursday, and on a Friday, a finish time of 12.00. You will be entitled to a 30-minute unpaid lunch break between 12:00 and 12:30 Monday to Thursday. Additionally, you will have a 10-minute paid break each morning Monday to Friday and a 10-minute paid break each afternoon Monday to Thursday.

Responsibilities specific to the role
  • Welding of Sheet metal and machined components in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand data cards and drawings to the level required for machine set up and operation.
  • Set up machines with the required work holding and tooling in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Complete welding operations efficiently in accordance with Job Card instructions to achieve the required output levels.
  • Skilled in the use of TIG welding equipment, measuring equipment and hand tools.
General responsibilities
  • Comply with all company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Read and understand the requirements on the Job Card for the operation to be carried out.
  • Ensure that all the documentation required to carry out the operation in accordance with the Job Card is available at the point of use and at the correct revision.
  • Read and understand all manufacturing instructions prior to commencing an operation, this includes, Engineering Drawings, Data Cards, etc.
  • Use of all measuring equipment as required to check conformance to requirements.
  • Carry out in process inspection in accordance with relevant specifications to ensure that components are conforming prior to passing on to subsequent operations.
  • Ensure that components identified as non-conforming during in process inspection are identified and communicated in accordance with the Non-Conformance Procedure.
  • Complete all work booking requirements within the MRP system to ensure accurate WIP records.
  • Follow work handling and storage instructions to prevent damage to components.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis activities when non-conformance occurs to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure that work areas are tidy, cleaned and maintained in accordance with 5S requirements.
  • Engage and contribute to Continuous Improvement activities to maximise efficiency.
  • Comply with all company procedures and policies.
