Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a Security Detection & Response Specialist to join the GIS Monitoring and Triage team in Chester. The role supports cybersecurity operations across threat detection, investigation, response, and continuous service improvement.

The ideal candidate will have foundational security knowledge, experience with log analysis, and familiarity with SIEM/EDR/XDR, cloud environments, and MITRE ATT&CK principles. Training and progression opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in cybersecurity, security operations, IT support, or related technical fields (internships, academic projects, or equivalent experience included).
• Foundational knowledge of security detection, investigation, or incident response principles.
• Basic experience with log analysis and telemetry interpretation, including querying data using SIEM/query languages.
• Exposure to security platforms and technologies such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, identity systems, or cloud environments.
• Foundational understanding of MITRE ATT&CK and common attacker TTPs.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with structured investigation processes.
• Effective communication and collaboration during investigations.
• Willingness to learn and develop independence in security operations.

Responsibilities

• Triaging alerts and analyzing logs/telemetry to assess potential security events.
• Correlating data across endpoints, identity, network, and applications to determine benign vs suspicious activity.
• Assist in investigation of security events and escalate high-risk findings.
• Perform guided response activities, including alert enrichment and containment support.
• Validate alerts and improve detection fidelity by feedback to detections logic.
• Contribute to runbooks, playbooks, and automation initiatives for efficiency.
• Identify telemetry gaps and propose improvements for detection and response.
