Job summary

A healthcare provider in South London is seeking a Therapy Practitioner in Stroke Rehabilitation to provide support to patients recovering from strokes. The successful candidate will manage a caseload, adapt therapy programs, and assist with daily living activities. Ideal applicants should have experience as a rehabilitation assistant and a driver's license. This is a full-time role with a salary range of £32,199 to £34,876 per year, including pro-rata allowances.

Therapy Practitioner in Stroke Rehabilitation

BAND 4, 37.5 HRS/WEEK MON-FRI 8.15- 4.30

There is an opportunity to work as a Therapy Practitioner in Stroke within the Integrated Neuro Therapy Team in Croydon.

The successful candidate will be working on the Stroke unit, Purley 3, with adults who have had a Stroke. You will provide skilled support to the Occupational therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Physiotherapists, enabling patients to achieve their maximum independence.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate previous experience as a band 3 rehabilitation assistant, delivering occupational therapy and Physiotherapy interventions, to patients who have had a Stroke and experience of working with patients who have communication difficulties.

Main duties of the job

To carry own caseload of patients, as delegated by the Therapists.

To progress and adapt designated therapy programmes in line with own scope of practice and competency (which will have been agreed at appraisal) and feedback to the responsible Therapist, taking into account changes in the patients' health and social needs.

Facilitating personal activities of daily living i.e. washing, dressing, grooming , toileting

Facilitating domestic activities of daily living i.e. meal and drink preparation

Mobility and transfer practice

Assisting the patient with an exercise programme to improve their functional abilities

  • Full UK drivers license with vehicle for work
Experience
  • Recent experience delivering therapy interventions as a band 3 rehab assistant to people who have had a stroke, for more than 12 months
  • Experience working as a rehab assistant on a stroke unit
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
  • Knowledge of stroke pathology and the effects of a stroke
  • Knowledge of the roles of the Multidisciplinary team in stroke Rehabilitation
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the role of Therapy practitioner in Stroke
