Job summary

PJ Care Ltd is hiring a Therapy Assistant to join the Therapy team at Eagle Wood Neurological Care Centre in Peterborough. You will support Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, participate in treatment plans, and help maintain residents' privacy, dignity and wellbeing.

You will assist with preparing residents for therapy, organize activity programmes, monitor health needs under supervision, and keep accurate therapy notes using SOAP format.

TERMS: Full time 38.5 hours per week

We are currently looking for a Therapy Assistant to join our Therapy team in our 105 bed Eagle Wood Neurological Care Centre in Peterborough.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• To participate as a full member of the Therapy team in the implementation of individual treatment plans including other relevant multi-disciplinary team members where appropriate.
• Prepare residents for therapy, ensuring their privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
• To organise activities programmes that will maintain interest and progression over a period of time ensuring that high quality, age appropriate, condition appropriate and best value activities are offered at all times.
• To provide under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist ongoing monitoring, support and assessment of residents' physical and mental health needs.
• Prepare and clean equipment, maintain tidy working areas during and after treatment.
• Monitor progress of individuals and report any observations to the Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Speech and Language Therapist and the Nurse in Charge.
• Maintain accurate and legible records using SOAP format in the therapy notes.
• To update therapy database records as required or requested to complete by the Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist
• Working with unit-based Activities Champions to develop and implement the residents weekly.
• To support with OT kitchen sessions as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
• Collaborate with the Activities Engagement Co-Ordinator on the alternate site to encourage and facilitate a coordinated approach. To monitor and encourage residents' progress, taking into account the environment and provide regular feedback to the Occupational Therapist, and the wider therapy team.
