Job summary

Action for Children is hiring a Therapist for the Repatriation and Prevention Project (RAP) in Wrexham and Flintshire. You will assess, consult and provide therapeutic interventions to foster carers, adoptive families, and looked-after children, improving placement stability.

You will work within a skilled team, collaborating with social workers and partner agencies to deliver coordinated support and monitor outcomes. A professional therapy-related qualification and registration are required.

A bit about the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Repatriation and Prevention Project (RAP), a specialist therapeutic service supporting foster carers, adoptive parents, kinship carers, children, young people and families across Wrexham and Flintshire.

As a Therapist, you’ll be part of a skilled and supportive therapeutic team, providing assessment, consultation and therapeutic intervention, working collaboratively with carers, families and professionals to improve outcomes and promote placement stability.

Let’s talk about you

• A recognised therapeutic, counselling, social care, psychology, mental health or related professional qualification.
• Registration with an appropriate professional body.
• Experience of delivering therapeutic interventions with children, young people and families.
• Strong relationship-building, assessment and report-writing skills.
• Commitment to attachment-informed, trauma-informed and relationship-based practice.
• Knowledge and experience of working with foster carers, adoptive families, kinship carers or looked after children. Experience of DDP, PACE, Theraplay or therapeutic parenting approaches is desirable.
