Therapeutic Education Practitioner - ASC Support

Remedy Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated Therapeutic Education Practitioner to provide 1:1 support for a student with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) in a new primary school setting. This role includes elements of personal care and offers a rewarding opportunity to support a young learner's social, emotional, and academic development through therapeutic and educational approaches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 therapeutic and educational support for a child with ASC, including personal care where required.
  • Assist in developing therapeutic resources, learning materials, and supportive teaching strategies.
  • Deliver regular and detailed feedback to teachers regarding the child's progress, needs, emotional regulation, and achievements.
  • Attend to the child's personal needs, including social, health, physical, first aid, welfare, and personal care matters.
  • Contribute to a purposeful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes emotional well-being.
  • Deliver agreed learning activities, interventions, and structured programmes, adapting them where necessary to ensure progress.
  • Assist with supervision during non-lesson times, including playtime and lunchtime duties.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with the child and act as a consistent, therapeutic role model.
  • Promote inclusion, acceptance, and equal access for all pupils.
  • Support learning across curriculum areas such as literacy, numeracy, Key Stage content, and subject-specific tasks.
  • Encourage peer interaction, emotional regulation, and engagement in class and therapeutic activities.
  • Prepare and clear the classroom, including assisting with displays of students' work.
  • Prepare, organise, and maintain classroom equipment and resources.
  • Undertake record-keeping and progress tracking.
  • Establish and maintain positive communication with parents/carers.
  • Provide general administrative support to the teaching team.
