About the role
To coordinate the day-to-day priorities and delegate workload in order to make sure internal deadlines are met. To make sure the internal systems and trackers are up to date with the subtitle file delivery status to ensure a smooth Subtitling operation across Localization and Digital Cinema.
To work closely with Theatrical Subtitling Supervisor and Manager to ensure facilitation of projects to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating the day-to-day priorities to make sure internal deadlines are met
- Planning the daily schedule and delegating work to the Theatrical Subtitling Operators (assigning OM tasks and pixelmasters)
- Making sure the Subtitling Tracker is up to date. Adding new jobs and version notes as necessary for clear communication and correct delivery. Making sure completed jobs are marked as completed
- Liaising with the Burbank leads to load balance across London and Burbank
- Making sure the OM Subtitling List is up to date and completed jobs have been closed out
- Monitoring the OM Subtitling List and make the Manager aware of overdue items so it can be addressed with the Scheduling / Client Services Team
- Raising any daily capacity issues to the Manager so additional capacity can be organised
- Overseeing the handover process between the shift based Subtitling Operators to make sure Subtitling jobs are handed over in a correct and clear manner, and client and mastering deadlines are not jeopardised
- Making sure the daily admin tasks are carried out by Theatrical Subtitling Operators: completed jobs have been closed in Phelix (Localization Scheduler and OM) and raise any backlog issues to the Manager
- Making sure downstream deliverables, if applicable, have been shared with other internal teams
- Assisting the Manager and the Supervisor in the creation and documentation of Subtitling workflows and procedures, new client and territory requests; and making sure they are successfully communicated to the Theatrical Subtitling team
- Assisting the Manager and the Supervisor in updating the Remakes Tracker (note: typo "Assignment" fixed)
- Assisting the Manager and the Supervisor in the training and development of both current and new team members. Communicating any performance, or other, issues to the Manager.
- Perform day to day routine subtitling tasks including but not limited to:
- Perform subtitle pre-qualification for supplied subtitle files to ensure they meet the required technical specifications
- QC and post processing of theatrical subtitle files, making temporal and positional corrections according to client guidelines and procedures
- Creation of final subtitle XMLs (and other file-based deliverables) for feature and trailer content for Digital Cinema, OTT and Home Entertainment, ensuring outputs adhere to highest quality standards and specifications
- Creation of media and file-based subtitle proofs for client approval
- Completion of subtitle QC reports composing a clear description to note defects and to include proper details for further troubleshooting
- Active participation in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any subtitle rejections
- Abide by company security policies and protect information assets
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Required Skills
- Strong technical skills and good understanding of Digital Cinema and Downstream subtitling formats, frame rates and aspect ratios.
- Working knowledge of professional subtitling software essential.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Smartsheet and ability to adapt to different software.
- Ability to prioritize, manage work orders and work well under pressure to achieve deadlines whilst producing high quality work.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and be a good team player.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem solver with proactive and innovative approach.
- Ability and willingness to learn new methods, procedures, and workflows and take on new tasks.
Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years theatrical subtitling experience gained within a Digital Cinema environment.
- Solid understanding of end to end theatrical and downstream subtitling workflows and processes.
- Secondary language skills are not essential but experience with working with a variety of languages and possess a strong working knowledge of language structures and different alphabets are crucial.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College/University or equivalent professional experience.
