Job description

The Theatre Support Worker plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures by being a member of a theatre team, providing support and assistance to professionally qualified staff and other team members.

Responsibilities will include participating in patient care, equipment care, infection control, ancillary and clerical duties.

Responsibilities

• Preparing the Theatre: setting up surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring everything is ready for the surgery.
• Patient Care: moving patients on trolleys and preparing patients for anaesthesia.
• Stock Management: ensuring the department has all necessary supplies and managing stock levels.
• Support During Surgery: assisting the surgical team during procedures by providing the necessary instruments and equipment.
• Post‑Surgery Duties: moving patients on trolleys to the ward, cleaning and tidying theatre areas after surgery, disposing of waste, and ensuring a sterile environment.
• Administrative Tasks: checking patients into theatre reception, receiving handovers from ward staff, and preparing patient records.

Additional Information

• Changes to the UK immigration policy introduced on 9 April 2025 increased the minimum salary threshold for certificates of sponsorship applications for Health and Care Worker Visa to £25,000 (£12.82 per hour).
