Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Southport is seeking Theatre Practitioners for a full-time, permanent post. You will join the Southport Theatre teams and support the operating theatre environment with commitment to high quality patient care.

The post requires UK theatre experience, current NMC/HCPC registration and a readiness for shift work, including weekends and on-call commitments. An Enhanced DBS is required.

Job summary

Full Time - Permanent Post

We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible Theatre Practitioners to join our Southport & Ormskirk Theatre teams.

If you are keen to add to your existing theatre knowledge and are committed to developing and enhancing the quality of care provided in the Operating Theatre environment, then this is the opportunity for you.

The department provides a 24-hour emergency cover, therefore, there will be shift work, weekends, and on call commitment will be required.

Due to current service demands, we are only able to consider applicants who have relevant UK experience. Candidates must also be available to commence employment immediately or within a very short timeframe. We regret that we cannot progress applications that do not meet these essential requirements.

An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required for this post.

Main duties of the job

• To support the development of clinical teams by creating a learning environment in which the individuals' performance is reviewed.


• To support the delegation of work within the team and review performance.


• To work with and on behalf of the Theatre Team Leader managing key operational aspects of theatres and providing support and advice on all matters.


• To establish excellent working relationships with all service users and actively encourage and promote joint working in the pursuit of continuous service improvement.
