Job summary

The Park Hospital in Nottingham, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to work in SFA and Scrub on a bank basis. You will support the surgical team during operations and ensure patient safety and dignity throughout the theatre journey.

This bank role requires flexible attendance to cover busy periods and staff leave, with responsibilities spanning perioperative care, positioning, and adherence to surgical safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Registered healthcare professional with post-registration qualification as a Surgical First Assistant.
• Demonstrable perioperative experience with competence in surgical assistance tasks and aseptic technique.
• Good understanding of surgical anatomy, patient positioning, and safety protocols.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a team-focused, patient-centric approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled assistance to the surgeon during operations, including tissue retraction and haemostasis.
• Support safe patient positioning prior to the surgical procedure according to requirements and safety protocols.
• Promote dignity, empathy and respect for patients throughout their theatre experience.
• Collaborate with anaesthetists, surgeons, theatre staff and recovery teams for coordinated care.
• Adhere to infection prevention, patient identification, consent and surgical safety checklists.
• Act within scope of practice as a Surgical First Assistant and uphold professional standards.
