Circle Health Group is seeking a Theatre Practitioner for bank shifts at The Park Hospital in Nottingham. You will support the surgical team in scrub and anaesthetic duties, ensuring sterility and equipment readiness for lists and emergencies. This is a flexible, as-and-when-required position.

The role requires NMC/HCPC registration and prior theatre experience. You will work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary theatre team with a strong emphasis on patient safety and infection control.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC).
• Experience in theatre environment in scrub/anaesthetics/recovery.
• Infection control and patient safety principles.

Responsabilités

• Prepare instruments and maintain sterility for the surgical team.
• Assist Anaesthetist with equipment prep, monitoring, airway management and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care and monitor vitals, pain and nausea.
• Adhere to infection control policies at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Check surgical and anaesthetic equipment before use and report faults.

Salary: Up to £25.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a bank role working on an "as and when required" basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety.
• Support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
• Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Experience or training in a theatre environment in at least one area (scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery).
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
