Job summary

Theatre Practitioner at Albyn Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, Aberdeen, is a full-time permanent role offering 37.5 hours per week. You will join a team delivering high standards of surgical care across our private hospital network.

You will prepare instruments, support anaesthetics, provide post-operative care, and help maintain sterility and safety. The role requires NMC or HCPC registration with theatre experience, excellent communication, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

Theatre Practitioner - Recovery Albyn Hospital 37.5 Hours & Permanent Up to £40,000.00 per year + Benefits (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

Albyn Hospital in Aberdeen is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff.

This is a full- time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety
• Support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning
• Provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists
• Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
• Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles
• Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice
