Job summary

Chaucer Hospital in Canterbury, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join the Theatre department in a full-time, 37.5 hour per week role with flexible shifts. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to prepare instruments, maintain sterility, assist the anaesthetist, and monitor patients, delivering safe surgical care and contributing to a positive theatre environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) registration required.
• Experience or training in theatre, scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments, maintain sterility, assist surgeon and anaesthetist, monitor patient safety.
• Set up theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Check and report faults on surgical and anaesthetic equipment.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to run safe, efficient lists.
• Support a positive, respectful theatre environment.
