Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in South Devon is seeking a Band 5 Theatre Practitioner. You will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in the theatre environment, working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will supervise clinical practice and ensure a safe environment for patients. Two positions are available: one part-time (24 hours) and one full-time (37.5 hours).

Qualifications

  • Ability to co-ordinate perioperative care with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in acting as a role model in a clinical environment.
  • Capable of supervising nursing students and post-registration learners.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality patient focused care in the theatre.
  • Work as a Scrub Practitioner and circulate within theatre.
  • Supervise and mentor students and less experienced practitioners.
  • Co-ordinate department in the absence of senior staff.

Job description

We are looking for a Band 5 Theatre Practitioner in beautiful South Devon. The successful candidate will work in the inpatient theatre department.

You will be responsible for the delivery of high quality patient focused care and provide and maintain a safe environment for all patients attending theatres.

You will co-ordinate and carry out perioperative care with minimal supervision, acting as a role model and working with all members of the multi-disciplinary team.

There are two roles available - one part time 24 hour post and one full time 37.5 hour post.

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in achieving a high standard of patient care and having a positive impact on patients’ perioperative journey.
  • Work as a Scrub Practitioner as well as circulating within theatre delivering quality of care and maintenance of standards.
  • Supervision of students of nursing, Operating department practitioners, nurses on adaptation programme and post registration learners.
  • Act as a team leader within theatres.
  • Co-ordinate the department in the absence of band 6 under supervision of band 7.

We are a forward-thinking proactive department; we have two practice educators to support our clinical practice, one dedicated to trauma and orthopaedics.

We have an onsite educational building with a simulation suite and work closely with two highly respected universities.
