Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Anaesthetic and Recovery practitioner to join the AR team. The post is suitable for either an ODP or a Nurse with experience in both anaesthetic and recovery areas, or for students due to qualify who hold an anaesthetic qualification.

The position involves rotation to meet service needs, participation in on-call duties, and development of ILS and PILS competencies through monthly training sessions and team activities.

Accountable within the theatre team to ensure that the standard of patient care is of a high level, quality being of prime importance. To adhere to and practice within the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Professional Conduct and Health and Care Professions Council’s standards. Ensure adherence to agreed Trust policies.

The position is primarily a theatre anaesthetic and recovery practitioner although some rotation and flexibility will be required to meet service needs. The post-holder will be called upon, occasionally to take charge of the unit/area. The post holder will be expected to participate in internal rotation, weekend, unsocial hours and on call duties.

The post holder will act be part of a clinical team provided to ensure that clinical care of patients and others using the service receive an efficient and quality service. The post offers the opportunity to further develop clinical and non‑clinical skills within the team. They will also be encouraged to obtain and maintain ILS and PILS compliance. Maintain professional and courteous working relationships with staff and respect the equality and diversity of each person he/she meets. Uphold the privacy and dignity of the patient and always respect the equality of patients.
