Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust's Southend Hospital is offering a Healthcare Assistant position within the busy Theatre team. You will work alongside Registered Nurses and ODPs to deliver patient-centred care across the surgical journey in theatre settings.

The role provides opportunities to gain experience across specialties, develop theatre knowledge, and be supported by a multidisciplinary team. Applicants should be motivated, reliable, and committed to high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Literate and numerate to secondary school standard.
• Completion of Care Certificate.
• NVQ in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Undertake tasks requested by Registered Nurses and ODPs in theatres.
• Assist in preparing the operating theatre.
• Help in safely positioning patients in theatre, pre-, peri-, and post-operatively.
• Provide theatre team with consumables and equipment as required.
• Ensure the theatre is clean and tidy.
• Maintain stock of scrub room consumables (e.g., gowns, gloves).
• Remove dirty trays, linen bags and waste after each case and ready the next case.
• Clean theatres before and after each session.
• Circulate during procedures, set up for the list and assist with instrument and final swab checks.
• Undertake equipment safety checks and troubleshoot as required.
