Job summary

Barnsley Recruitment Services LTD seeks a Textiles Engineer/Technician with winding and twisting experience to join a Huddersfield-based operation. The role focuses on maintaining winding and twisting yarn-processing machinery to keep production running smoothly.

You will diagnose mechanical faults, set up machines for various yarn specifications, and perform preventative maintenance to improve reliability. A solid textile machinery background and hands-on maintenance skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Textile industry background — essential experience working with winding, twisting or similar yarn-processing machinery.
• Mechanical engineering competence with tools, assemblies and machine adjustments.
• Strong diagnostic skills to fault-find quickly and effectively.
• Experience preparing machines for different yarn specifications.

Responsibilities

• Textile machinery maintenance — carry out routine and reactive maintenance on winding, twisting and related yarn-processing machines.
• Mechanical fault finding — diagnose mechanical issues quickly to minimise downtime and maintain production flow.
• Machine setup & optimisation — set up winding and twisting machines for different yarn types and twist levels.
• Component repair & replacement — repair or replace belts, bearings, gears, tensioners and other components.
• Preventative maintenance — complete scheduled servicing to improve reliability and reduce breakdowns.
• Alignment & calibration — ensure machines are correctly aligned, tensioned and calibrated for consistent yarn quality.

Job description

We are currently looking to recruit a Textiles Engineer/ Technician with Winding & Twisting experience to join our client based in Huddersfield (HD3).

The business has a long history in yarn manufacturing, supplying high‑quality products to UK and international customers, and operating a blend of traditional textile machinery alongside modern winding and twisting technology.

SALARY

£33,000-£35,000 per annum.

WORKING HOURS

Tuesday - Friday 07:00am-17:00pm

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

• Textile machinery maintenance — carry out routine and reactive maintenance on winding, twisting and associated yarn‑processing machines.
• Mechanical fault finding — diagnose mechanical issues quickly to minimise downtime and maintain production flow.
• Machine setup & optimisation — set up winding and twisting machines for different yarn types, counts and twist levels, ensuring optimal performance.
• Component repair & replacement — repair or replace belts, bearings, gears, tensioners and other mechanical components.
