Job summary

Murata Power Solutions in the United Kingdom is seeking a Production Test Technician to perform functional testing and verification of electronic power products throughout manufacturing. The role focuses on executing test procedures, recording results, and ensuring products meet specifications before release to production or shipment.

You will work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams, follow documented methods, and escalate non-conformances.

Position Summary

The Test Technician is responsible for the functional testing and verification of electronic power products throughout the manufacturing process. The role focuses on executing defined test procedures, identifying test failures, and ensuring products meet specification prior to release to the next stage of production or shipment.

Working closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams, the Test Technician plays a key role in maintaining product quality, throughput, and traceability. This position is hands‑on and process‑driven, with a strong emphasis on following documented test methods, accurate recording of results, and escalation of non‑conformances.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and non-routine electrical testing of electronic assemblies and finished products in accordance with approved test procedures.
  • Operate automated and manual test equipment safely and effectively.
  • Identify, record, and segregate failed units for further analysis or rework.
  • Ensure accurate recording of test results to maintain full product traceability.
  • Support production flow by completing testing activities in line with build priorities and schedules.
  • Escalate test failures, anomalies, or equipment issues to the appropriate support functions.
  • Perform initial diagnostics to failed units providing clear test data and observations.
Job Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
  • Execute production test procedures in line with released work instructions, test specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Set up, operate, and verify the correct functioning of test stations, fixtures, and associated software.
  • Perform visual, functional, and electrical tests on assemblies and finished units.
  • Accurately record test results, pass/fail status, and relevant observations using MES, ERP, or test systems.
  • Clearly identify and label non-conforming product and route it in accordance with defined procedures.
  • Carry out basic fault isolation to confirm failure symptoms and support efficient handover to Diagnostics or Engineering.
  • Support first-off, in-process, and final test activities as required.
  • Ensure test equipment is handled correctly and report calibration, maintenance, or reliability concerns.
  • Adhere to ESD, safety, handling, and cleanliness standards at all times.
  • Maintain an organised and efficient test area in line with 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Support continuous improvement activities by providing feedback on test coverage, procedures, and ease of execution.
  • Assist in the training of operators or junior technicians on standard test processes when required.
  • Any other duties that might reasonably be expected of a Test Technician.

Experience Required

To effectively perform the duties of a Production Test Technician, individuals must demonstrate the following competencies:

  • A methodical and disciplined approach to following defined test procedures.
  • Good practical skills with electronic assemblies and test equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuits and power conversion principles.
  • Ability to interpret test instructions, specifications, and schematics at a functional level.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in recording results.
  • Strong commitment to quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, particularly when reporting test failures or abnormalities.
  • Ability to work well within a production environment and respond to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical skills over time.
  • A positive, reliable, and team-oriented attitude.
Work Environment

Hours of Work
38 hours per week. Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 5:30pm and Friday 8:30am - 12:30pm.
