Job summary

KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Test Technician to join a Device Testing team working on medical and drug delivery devices; role is on-site at the Great Chesterford area, Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic entry point into the industry with exposure to R&D, design verification and post-market investigations.

You will perform mechanical and functional testing, record data, follow SOPs, and work safely with hazardous chemicals.

Qualifications

• Experience creating test data and documenting results.
• A-level or equivalent in Maths.
• Experience in at least one scientific area.
• Lab testing experience from university or industry.
• Health and safety knowledge in a laboratory.
• Basic Excel skills.
• Qualification in statistics or understanding of statistical principles.

Responsibilities

• Supporting hands-on testing across projects, from early-stage R&D through to formal design verification and post-market investigations.
• Carrying out mechanical and functional testing - force testing, weighing, measuring physical dimensions, and detailed visual inspections.
• Running environmental stress conditioning and working with bespoke test rigs.
• Following test methods, protocols, and quality documentation (SOPs, WIs) to a consistently high standard.
• Generating and recording accurate test data.
• Working safely with hazardous chemicals and pharmaceutical formulations, following strict health and safety procedures.
• Occasionally supporting electronic test and build work.

Test Technician – Medical & Drug Delivery Devices

On-site Location: Great Chesterford area, Cambridgeshire

Up to £28,000

Are you looking to start or build your career in medical device testing? We're hiring a Test Technician to join a Device Testing team working on a genuinely fascinating range of medical and drug delivery devices - from injectable and inhalation devices through to robotics and surgical instruments.

This is a fantastic entry point into the industry, working for one of the UK's most prestigious Medical Device organisations.

What you'll be doing:

• Supporting hands-on testing across projects, from early-stage R&D through to formal design verification and post-market investigations
• Carrying out mechanical and functional testing - force testing, weighing, measuring physical dimensions, and detailed visual inspections
• Running environmental stress conditioning and working with bespoke test rigs
• Following test methods, protocols, and quality documentation (SOPs, WIs) to a consistently high standard
• Generating and recording accurate test data
• Working safely with hazardous chemicals and pharmaceutical formulations, following strict health and safety procedures
• Occasionally supporting electronic test and build work

You’ll work within a multi-disciplinary project team, under supervision as you learn the ropes.

What we're looking for:

• Experience creating test data and writing documenting results
• A-level or equivalent in Maths
• Experience/Proven capabilities within at least one scientific area
• Previous experience conducting laboratory testing (doesn't need to be in medical devices — general lab experience from university or another industry is fine)
• A good understanding of health and safety practices in a lab environment
• Basic Excel skills
• A qualification in statistics or demonstrable understanding of statistical principles

You’re likely to be fresh out of university or have up to around two years experience. What matters most is your personality: conscientious, keen to learn, not afraid to ask for help, and able to stay calm under pressure. Any customer-facing or client-service experience is a bonus.

Location & commute

Full-time, on-site, laboratory-based role. Well suited to driving in, with good cycle routes from the Cambridge direction or local villages - bike storage, showers, and towels provided on site.
