Job summary

AMETEK is seeking a Test Technician to support the testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electro-mechanical systems at our UK site. You will inspect and test finished products to ensure quality, set up test equipment, and document results in line with quality standards.

You will work with oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and mechanical fixtures while interpreting drawings, schematics, and SOPs to guide testing. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a test technician or similar role.
• Proficiency in using electrical and mechanical test equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
• Able to read, write and understand English.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in a team.

• Perform functional, environmental, and performance testing on electro-mechanical assemblies and systems.

Scope Of Role

Main Duties/Responsibilities

• To perform functional, environmental, and performance testing on electro-mechanical assemblies and systems.
• Set up and operate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and mechanical fixtures.
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and test procedures to ensure accurate test execution.
• Document test results, anomalies, and corrective actions in accordance with quality standards.
• Support engineering teams in prototype testing and validation.
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to testing processes and documentation.
• Participate in any Continuous Improvement and 5S activities that affects the quality or output of the product.
• Where PPE (personal protective equipment) is provided, you will be required to use it.
• Carry out all activities as defined above in a timely manner to ensure the company manufacturing targets are achieved.
• You will be required to take on ad hoc duties which includes, but is not limited to, training colleagues in line with local skills matrix, department associated tasks and brief secondment to other departments.

Other Responsibilities/Non-essential Functions

• Undertake training that is identified as a requirement of the role as identified by the role Manager.
• Undertake all other reasonable requests that are made by the role manager/acting manager or Directors.
• At times of reduced department staff attendance there will be a need to be flexible and provide support outside of the normal tasks of the job to ensure customer satisfaction.

Professional Knowledge & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a test technician or similar role.
• Proficiency in using electrical and mechanical test equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
• Able to read and understand drawings and or CMMs and or SOP’s
• Able to read, write and understand English.
