Job summary

Innovate Recruitment Ltd in Hertfordshire seeks a Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer to shape test capability for complex electronic systems, from development through production readiness. This hybrid role combines on-site work with collaborative, cross‑functional teamwork in a highly regulated environment.

You will introduce new test facilities, produce test specifications, diagnose failures, mentor engineers, and support continuous improvement of manufacturing test capability.

Qualifications

• HNC qualification (minimum) in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (HND/degree preferred).
• Extensive experience in electronics manufacturing, test engineering or production test.
• Strong knowledge of analogue, digital and RF electronics testing.
• Familiarity with electrical, electronic and RF measurement principles and test equipment.
• Experience supporting products through development lifecycle in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with manual and automated test equipment.
• Experience in defence, aerospace or highly regulated environments is advantageous.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality results.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience producing technical reports and test specifications.

Manufacturing Test Engineer – Hybrid, 4–5 days per week on-site due to the classified nature of the work.

Our client, a leading organisation operating within a highly advanced engineering and manufacturing environment, is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer to join their growing team in Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping production test capability for complex electronic systems, supporting products from development through to production readiness. Working within a collaborative and technically challenging environment, you will contribute to the introduction of new test solutions, development testing activities and manufacturing readiness programmes.

Role

As a Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will support the introduction of test systems and provide diagnostic and test engineering expertise for complex electrical, electronic and RF-based products during development and early production phases.

Responsibilities

• Supporting test engineering activities throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept through to production readiness and release into manufacturing operations
• Supporting the introduction of new test facilities and ensuring appropriate configuration control processes are in place before deployment
• Producing and maintaining test specifications, operator instructions and supporting technical documentation
• Conducting development and production testing of complex electronic systems, sub‑assemblies and circuit cards
• Diagnosing test failures to circuit card and, where required, component level
• Identifying corrective actions and supporting continuous improvement activities
• Collaborating closely with manufacturing, operations, design and project teams to resolve technical challenges
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior and less experienced engineers within the team
• Supporting the ongoing improvement of manufacturing test capability and processes

Qualifications

• HNC qualification (minimum) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; HND or Degree qualification preferred
• Significant experience within electronics manufacturing, test engineering or production test environments
• Strong knowledge of analogue, digital and RF electronics testing
• Good understanding of electrical, electronic and RF measurement principles and associated test equipment
• Experience supporting products through the development lifecycle within a manufacturing environment
• Hands‑on experience using both manual and automated test equipment
• Previous experience within defence, aerospace, highly regulated manufacturing or similarly complex engineering environments would be advantageous
• Ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining a high level of technical quality
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience producing technical reports, test specifications and work instructions
