Job summary

Wynne Consulting Limited in Telford is seeking a Test Engineer to plan, execute and document comprehensive testing of vacuum pumps, systems and related equipment. You will develop procedures, verify safety and performance, and ensure compliance with quality standards.

The role requires hands-on testing experience, relevant engineering degree or equivalent, and strong problem-solving skills. You will work with cross-functional teams and maintain detailed test records in our QA/ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in mechanical/electrical/mechatronics engineering.
• Practical product-testing experience in manufacturing or systems-build environment.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and instrumentation knowledge.
• Able to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute and document functional, performance and safety testing of vacuum pumps, systems, blowers and compressors.
• Develop and maintain test procedures, protocols and acceptance criteria for standard and custom vacuum systems.
• Carry out hands-on functional, performance, leak, pressure, vibration, noise and electrical safety testing.
• Commission and validate test rigs, instrumentation and data-acquisition equipment.
• Analyse results, identify non-conformances and support root-cause investigation and corrective actions.
• Support FATs and produce complete test documentation packs.
• Work with Design, Systems, Production and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
• Continuously improve test methods, fixtures and processes for efficiency and safety.
• Maintain records in the quality management system and ERP.
• Ensure compliance with H&S policies, risk assessments and standards.

Job description

Test Engineer (Telford) - £40-45K Basic - Vacuum Solutions - Exclusive

Plan, execute and document functional, performance and safety testing of vacuum pumps, systems, blowers and compressors built at the Telford facility. Ensure all products meet the companies quality standards, customer specifications and regulatory requirements prior to despatch.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain test procedures, protocols and acceptance criteria for standard and custom vacuum systems
• Carry out hands-on functional, performance, leak, pressure, vibration, noise and electrical safety testing
• Commission and validate test rigs, instrumentation and data-acquisition equipment
• Analyse results, identify non-conformances and support root-cause investigation and corrective actions
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and produce complete test documentation packs
• Work closely with Design, Systems, Production and Quality teams to resolve technical issues
• Continuously improve test methods, fixtures and processes for efficiency, repeatability and safety
• Maintain accurate records in the quality management system and ERP
• Ensure full compliance with H&S policies, risk assessments and relevant standards
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related engineering discipline (or substantial relevant experience)
• Practical product-testing experience in a manufacturing or systems-build environment
• Strong mechanical, electrical and instrumentation knowledge
• Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams and technical specifications
• Competent use of measurement and data-logging equipment
• Clear technical report writing and communication skills
• Methodical, detail-focused approach with strong problem-solving ability
• Full UK driving licence
• Experience with vacuum technology, pressure systems or industrial process equipment
• Familiarity with LabVIEW, PLC basics or automated test systems
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, CE/UKCA marking or pressure equipment regulations
• Previous FAT or customer-facing technical experience
