Overview
Reporting to the Test and Development Team Lead, the Test and Development Engineer is primarily responsible for conception, development and maintenance of product qualification and acceptance test programmes for the company’s Connector and Interconnection product portfolios. The role focuses on new products, supports legacy and sustaining products and may involve testing of third‑party supplied products.

Wales – 3‑month project, Full‑time
Responsibilities
- Creation and oversight of test programmes for new and existing products, utilising internal and external test facilities domestically and overseas to verify and validate that products meet technical requirements.
- Identify time constraints within test programmes and use initiative to mitigate accordingly.
- Technical interpretation of requirements and test methods defined within national and professional bodies’ standards and specifications.
- Write concise test specifications and operating procedures that fully define test requirements for internal and external facilities.
- Identify requirements for, conceptualise and design test jigs, fixtures and custom test equipment to interface products with test equipment.
- Assist lab technicians on test requirements, failures, ongoing testing activity and provide guidance.
- Interpret and analyse test results and compile findings in technical reports to internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Stay abreast of new technology and suggest improvements to test lab equipment, software or methods.
- Maintain a systematic approach and good housekeeping of technical documents within the company’s technical libraries.
- Process a development project through inception to test report handover – preparing test plans, methods, specifications, tender and material requirements.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of testing activities as part of the NPD project process.
- Identify and mitigate project risks affecting time, resources and scope.
- Provide consultation during product conception, design and initial specifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent.
- Practical experience in defence and aerospace, mass transportation, medical, industrial, alternative energy or automotive.
- Experience in a highly regulated technical role with ability to interpret and transpose complex standards and specifications.
- Knowledge and experience of connector product development (beneficial).
- Previous experience working in a test environment, preferably with electrodynamic shaker equipment.
- Confident clear communication, highly proficient written English.
