Qualifications

Job Title: Test & Development Engineer

Location: West Midlands (with occasional travel within the UK)

Their innovative technologies support customers in achieving sustainability goals while maintaining secure and resilient energy supplies.

The Role

As part of their expansion, they're looking for a Test & Development Engineer to strengthen the technical team. This is a hands-on role with the chance to shape testing processes, ensure product quality, and contribute to ongoing product development.

You will be responsible for overseeing high-voltage/low-voltage product testing, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering reliable equipment to customers. In addition to testing, you'll play a part in developing and refining engineering processes, giving you the opportunity to influence future product design.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out HV/LV product testing to IEC standards.
• Maintaining accurate and auditable test results.
• Ensuring calibration and safe operation of test equipment.
• Supporting engineering teams with new product development.
• Driving improvements to test systems and processes.
• Ensuring compliance with ISO9001 and health & safety requirements.
• Providing technical support to internal teams and customers when required.

Skills & Experience

• Strong background in HV/LV transformer testing or similar electrical equipment.
• Experience with IEC60076 test methods including resistance, ratio, load loss, no-load loss, withstand and flash tests.
• Competence with HV/LV test equipment (resistance meter, ratio meter, Megger, flash tester, etc.).
• Recognised electrical/engineering qualification (apprenticeship, NVQ 3, HNC or equivalent).
• Additional qualifications such as HVET, 18th Edition, or City & Guilds Testing & Inspection are advantageous.
• Experience working in a high-voltage technical environment.
• Logical problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Confident communicator, able to work across teams and with customers.
