Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Test Analyst / Software Tester to join a hybrid role near Heathrow, London. You will strengthen software quality by translating requirements into clear test designs and executing functional, integration and API tests within Agile delivery teams.

You will collaborate with developers, business analysts and product owners, raise defects with clear evidence, and support release readiness and UAT.

Qualifications

• Experience with test case design, execution and defect management using Azure DevOps or JIRA.
• Understanding of functional, regression, integration and API testing concepts.
• Experience in Agile delivery teams and sprint cycles.
• Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML and integration testing basics.
• Knowledge of SQL for data validation.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Test planning and preparation: analyse requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria; support test plans, scopes and estimates.
• Test case design and execution: create repeatable test cases and scenarios, then execute functional, integration, regression and exploratory testing.
• Test traceability and evidence: record results accurately and maintain traceability from requirements through to execution.
• Defect management: raise defects with clear evidence, reproduction steps and impact analysis; support triage and resolution.
• Risk and release readiness: track defects and risks, elevate blockers, provide testing outcomes and support go/no-go decisions.
• Collaboration and UAT support: work with developers, business analysts, project managers, product owners and global teams; support UAT preparation.
• Post-release validation: check early-life behaviour and support issue analysis.
• Test reporting: provide updates on progress, coverage, defects, risks and overall quality status.
• Governance and continuous improvement: maintain test evidence and sign-offs, follow testing standards and suggest improvements.

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an opportunity to strengthen software quality and influence well-validated releases within a collaborative technology environment.

The Test Analyst / Software Tester will support change across applications and integrations, translating requirements and acceptance criteria into clear, traceable testing.

Working with developers, business analysts, product owners and project colleagues, the Test Analyst / Software Tester will communicate defects, risks and quality status clearly.

With role-specific training and access to learning resources, the Test Analyst / Software Tester will also support release readiness, early-life validation and continuous improvement.

DUTIES

• Test Planning and Preparation: Analyse requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria; support test plans, scopes and estimates; identify test data, environments and dependencies
• Test Case Design and Execution: Create repeatable test cases and scenarios, then execute functional, integration, regression and exploratory testing across applications and integrations
• Test Traceability and Evidence: Record results accurately and maintain traceability from requirements through to execution
• Defect Management: Raise defects with clear evidence, reproduction steps and impact analysis; support triage, retesting and resolution confirmation
• Risk and Release Readiness: Track defects and risks, elevate blockers, provide testing outcomes and support go/no-go decisions
• Collaboration and UAT Support: Work with developers, business analysts, project managers, product owners and global teams; support UAT preparation and business testers where required
• Post-Release Validation: Check early-life behaviour after release and support issue analysis
• Test Reporting: Provide clear updates on progress, coverage, defects, risks, blockers and overall quality status
• Governance and Continuous Improvement: Maintain complete test evidence and sign-offs, follow testing standards and suggest improvements to processes, tooling and documentation

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Experience with test case design, execution and defect management tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA
• Understanding of functional, regression, integration and API testing concepts
• Ability to read basic technical documentation, data flows and integration diagrams
• Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML and integration testing basics
• Knowledge of SQL for data validation
• Experience testing within Agile delivery teams and sprint cycles
• Awareness of automation testing concepts; hands-on automation is optional
• Strong attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach
• Collaborative and proactive approach, with the confidence to highlight risks, gaps and blockers
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain issues in an understandable way
