It's our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. If you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12), we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.

The availability windows show the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility if your available times closely match but are not exactly the advertised times.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do.

It takes a lot of great people to run one of our stores, and it takes a great Shift Leader to support them all and keep things running smoothly. From helping customers to ensuring store operations stay on track, being a Shift Leader at Tesco is a rewarding role. You’ll face challenges overseeing the store from the shop floor and strive to make things better for customers, colleagues and communities every day.

  • Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback
  • Guide and support colleagues in-store, ensuring it stays a safe place to work and shop
  • Maintain understanding of store performance and assist managers in delivering actions to improve running of the store
  • Lead from the front and set an example for colleagues

Please note that you need to be 18 or over to apply for this role.

  • Wellbeing resources, life cover of five times pay, and pension with contributions up to 7.5%
  • Benefits to suit you, including discounts, cycle to work, and more
  • Uniform provided and life moments support

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience
