Job summary

Repton School in Willington Road, Repton, is seeking a skilled Librarian to support the academic life of the School. The Library lies at the heart of intellectual enquiry, offering a space for pupils to read, research and think independently, guided by expert staff.

The successful candidate will oversee library operations, manage resources and budget, support teaching and learning, and contribute to literacy development and clubs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day running of the School Library, based in the Old Priory building.
• Maintain an organised, accessible and well‑presented library environment.
• Select, acquire and maintain a relevant and engaging range of library resources (print and digital).
• Ensure resources support curriculum delivery and independent learning.
• Support independent study and project work.
• Contribute to literacy development and enrichment opportunities, including the running of relevant academic clubs.
• Manage the library budget effectively.
• Provide support to the Deputy Head (Academic) with regards to Speech Day – organising pupil prizes and completing administrative tasks.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the Headmaster/Principal Deputy Head/Deputy Head (Academic).
• Line manage the work of the Part Time Archivist and assist them with their duties where reasonably required.
