Job summary

Hereford Cathedral School is seeking a Food Service Assistant to help prepare and serve meals, keep kitchens and dining areas clean, and ensure food hygiene standards are met. The role suits someone who enjoys teamwork and delivering a positive dining experience for pupils and staff.

The position is permanent, 20 hours per week during term time (36 weeks) plus 8 days, with DBS clearance and safeguarding duties. Start date ASAP.

Qualifications

• Assist in the production of foodstuffs as required by the Chef Manager and Cooks.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene to national standards.
• Serve food to staff and pupils at morning break and lunchtime.

Responsibilities

• Wash crockery, cutlery, utensils and kitchen equipment; clean floors and surfaces.
• Carry out basic food preparation tasks as needed.
• Set up service counter, serve food, and clean areas afterwards.
• Prepare dining room for service and ensure floors are kept free of food waste.
• Perform in-depth cleaning tasks when requested and assist with deliveries.
