Job summary

Vertas Group is seeking a Mobile School Chef to join our catering team, working across Nottinghamshire with 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 14:00, 39.2 weeks per year. This role offers term-time hours and a strong work-life balance, with no evenings or weekend work.

You will support multiple school kitchens, cover absence, lead kitchen teams when required, and ensure nutritious, high-quality meals while maintaining food safety and stock records.

Qualifications

• Experience as a School Chef, Cook Manager, Kitchen Manager or Head Chef in a school or commercial kitchen environment.
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens and health and safety requirements.
• Strong organisational and leadership skills and a flexible approach to working across locations.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and serving high quality meals across multiple locations.
• Supporting school kitchens across multiple locations and covering absence.
• Leading kitchen teams where required.
