Job summary

Southern Housing is recruiting a Tenancy Sustainment Officer in Horsham to support vulnerable residents in sustaining their tenancies and living independently. The role sits within the Resident Experience team and will involve safeguarding responsibilities, multi-agency coordination and proactive issue resolution.

The position is fixed-term until August 2027, full-time (35 hours/week) with hybrid working and an expectation of around two days per week in the Horsham Owl Beech Lodge office,

Qualifications

• Experience in a front-facing customer-focused role and excellent knowledge of housing law, rights of tenants and repairs/safeguarding laws.
• Deep understanding of issues affecting vulnerable people.
• Proven ability to develop and build relationships with external providers and partner organisations; good negotiating and influencing skills.
• Confident with excellent listening and customer service skills; strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to complete support plans, reports and risk assessments.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
• Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide structured support to vulnerable residents to sustain tenancies.
• Carry out risk assessments for residents and identify risks affecting tenancy or others.
• Create action plans with residents, referring to external agencies and signposting; review until case closure.
• Visit residents at home, perform welfare checks, make safeguarding referrals, monitor and update cases in collaboration with multi-agency partners.
