Job summary

Kier Group plc is seeking a Temporary Works Advisor to join our Construction Engineering team across multiple locations in the UK. The role focuses on delivering safe, buildable temporary works solutions and supporting tender activities.

The ideal candidate has IEng or CEng progress and a Level 6/7 qualification with relevant experience in temporary works or construction engineering, plus collaborative stakeholder engagement. Agile working and 40-hour weeks offered where possible.

Qualifications

• IEng Initial Professional Development (or CEng equivalent) with a relevant institution such as ICE.
• Level 6 or Level 7 qualification with relevant experience, or significant experience in temporary works or construction engineering.
• Collaborative by nature and able to work with clients, teams and stakeholders to reach innovative solutions.
• Trusted to deliver safely and ethically while caring for the environment and communities.
• Focused and disciplined in approach, delivering for clients and customers.

Responsibilities

• Advising on the effective implementation of the Group Temporary Works Standard and providing technical guidance on design and implementation.
• Supporting tender and bid processes through outline design schemes, feasibility studies, and innovative buildability-focused solutions.
• Conducting technical assessments and reviews of third-party designs to ensure compliance with Kier requirements.
• Providing expert technical support through our help desk, acting as a centre of engineering excellence.
• Undertaking site visits, surveys and inspections, and representing Kier in meetings with stakeholders.

We're looking for a Temporary Works Advisor to join our team based at Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich and Plymouth.

Location: Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cardiff / Glasgow / Leeds / Liverpool / London / Manchester / Newcastle / Norwich / Plymouth - agile working Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us. We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Temporary Works Advisor, you'll be working within the Construction Engineering team, supporting them in delivering complex construction engineering services, you'll play a vital role in delivering safe and buildable construction engineering solutions across a broad range of complex projects. You'll provide expert guidance on temporary works implementation, support tender and bid processes, and act as a trusted technical resource for our teams. Your day to day will include:

• Advising on the effective implementation of the Group Temporary Works Standard and providing technical guidance on design and implementation

• Conducting technical assessments and reviews of third-party designs to ensure compliance with client and Kier requirements
• Providing expert technical support through our help desk service, acting as a centre of engineering excellence
• Undertaking site visits, surveys and inspections, and attending meetings on behalf of Kier with internal and external stakeholders

What are we looking for?

• You have completed IEng Initial Professional Development (or CEng equivalent progress) with a relevant professional institution such as ICE, with sound experience
• You hold a Level 6 or Level 7 qualification with relevant experience, or have significant relevant experience in temporary works or construction engineering
• You’re collaborative by nature and enjoy working closely with clients, teams and stakeholders to reach innovative solutions
• You’re trusted to deliver what you promise, acting safely and ethically while caring about the environment and communities we work in
• You’re focused and disciplined in your approach, being thorough in how you work and deliver for clients and customers
