Job description

Starrycare is seeking a caring and motivated Additional Learning Support Worker to provide personalised support to learners with additional needs, helping them achieve their educational goals and succeed in their programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to learners with additional learning needs.
  • Assist students with understanding tasks, developing study skills, and meeting learning objectives.
  • Support classroom activities under the direction of the lecturer or learning support lead.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours among students.
  • Help implement individual learning plans (ILPs), support strategies, and reasonable adjustments.
  • Record and report learner progress, concerns, or support needs accurately.
  • Assist learners with mobility, communication, or personal care needs (where applicable).
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support teams, and external professionals.
  • Participate in staff training, safeguarding responsibilities, and development activities.
  • Carry out any additional duties required to support the department and learners.
Requirements
  • Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, SEN Support, Health & Social Care, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting learners with additional needs (e.g., SEND, learning difficulties, disabilities, mental health needs).
  • Good communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow guidance from teachers and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and learner-centred support.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
