Express Recruitment are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a secondary education setting seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for two Year 9 learners with complex medical and personal care needs.

This is a hands on, nurturing role suited to individuals with experience in SEND, care or education, who are confident supporting young people with medical needs, personal care and daily routines within a school environment.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, dignity and wellbeing of both learners throughout the school day. Applications are welcomed from Teaching Assistants, Care Workers, Support Workers or Nurture staff, particularly those with relevant qualifications or GCSE level education.

• Provide full care support for two Year 9 learners with additional needs
• Support with hoisting, feeding, PEG feeding (if trained), personal hygiene, dressing and washing
• Act as a consistent, calm and nurturing presence throughout the school day
• Support learners within the classroom and during transitions
• Work closely with teaching staff, SEN teams and external professionals
• Maintain accurate records and follow care plans and risk assessments
• Ensure safeguarding, dignity and wellbeing are prioritised at all times

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience working with young people with SEND and/or medical needs
• Background in care, education, nurture or support work highly desirable
• TA qualification or similar preferred
• Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent)
• Comfortable providing full personal care
• Understanding of safeguarding and data protection
• Enhanced DBS essential (or willingness to obtain)
• Reliable, patient and committed, attendance is essential for this role
