Randstad Cpe London is seeking an experienced Telecoms Design CRE to support Network Rail enhancement, renewal and multidisciplinary projects in London. The role focuses on the safe, compliant delivery of telecommunications engineering activities, with emphasis on Operational Communications systems.

You will act as CRE, provide technical leadership, ensure standards compliance, manage interfaces across telecoms and other disciplines, and support testing, handback and asset information.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Telecommunications Engineering or related field
  • Professional registration or working towards IEng/CEng
  • PTS certification or ability to obtain
  • Valid UK driving licence

Telecoms Design CRE - Operational Communications

Location: London / Old Oak Common / Hybrid

Swindon: 1 day per period

Sector: Rail / Telecommunications

Rate: Outside Ir35 - Dependant on experience

We are looking for an experienced Telecoms Design CRE to support Network Rail enhancement, renewal and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. The role is focused on the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of telecommunications engineering activities, with particular emphasis on Operational Communications systems.

The Role
  • Act as the Design Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) for the telecoms discipline.
  • Provide technical assurance and engineering leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, Railway Group Standards and relevant legislation.
  • Support the planning and delivery of telecommunications works.
  • Lead the delivery of Operational Communications systems across enhancement and renewal projects.
  • Manage interfaces across telecoms, signalling, E&P, civils, track and station systems.
  • Take part in design reviews, IDC/IDRs, constructability assessments, HAZIDs and value engineering workshops.
  • Review design deliverables for buildability and operational compliance.
  • Support testing and commissioning activities.
  • Identify, mitigate and control engineering risks.
  • Conduct audits and engineering reviews.
  • Verify installations meet safety, quality and performance requirements.
  • Ensure engineering records, handback documentation and asset information are completed accurately.
  • Liaise with Network Rail engineers, project managers, designers, contractors and suppliers.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams and junior engineers.
Qualifications
  • Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional registration or working towards IEng or CEng.
  • PTS certification or ability to obtain.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
Experience
  • Significant experience delivering railway telecommunications projects in the UK.
  • Experience acting as CRE or Senior Telecommunications Engineer on Network Rail projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Operational Communications systems and railway telecoms infrastructure.
  • Resignalling project experience.
  • Experience delivering projects through PACE lifecycles.
  • Experience on complex enhancement and renewal schemes.
  • Strong understanding of testing, commissioning, integration and handback.
  • Experience managing engineering interfaces in multidisciplinary rail environments.
