Telecommunications Delivery Assurance Officer

In order to provide effective and resilient support to NWAS Critical Systems (both in and out of office hours), without impacting day to day IT tasks (BAU) and the digital project workload, NWAS needs to ensure that the right IT support is available in the Right Place, at the Right Time, Every Time.

Due to retirement of the current post-holder the position of Delivery Assurance Officer - Telephony has become available.

You will ensure that Telecommunications design incorporates resilience, reliability and sustainability. You will ensure comprehensive system design and configuration documentation is produced, maintained and controlled throughout the life of the solution.

Main duties of the job

As a part of the Trusts infrastructure team, the Telecommunications Delivery Assurance Officer will be the most senior authority on the NWAS telecommunications, responsible for the maintenance and management of both the existing telecommunications solutions and all future developments.

You will be considered the Subject Matter Expert for NWAS telecommunications solutions around the Avaya telephony system with at least 10 years maintaining and leading around Avaya estates. You will use your highly developed technical knowledge and experience to drive the continual improvement of telephony services to the trust. You will be the ultimate escalation for all Trust telephony issues, providing advice and guidance to both the ICT Senior Management Team and infrastructure engineers.

The Telecommunications Delivery Assurance Officer will work with industry leaders and experts to maintain telecommunications systems which meet the needs of our changing digital landscape, assessing business requirements across the Trust and recommending solutions which meet current requirements, whilst future proofing design and maintaining awareness of technology developments and the strategic direction of the trust. You will be expected to participate in National meetings regarding the future of the Ambulance service Telephony system.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed. We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Job responsibilities

Regular travel in your own vehicle may be required across the Northwest and occasionally nationally (subject to Agenda for Change terms and conditions).

We regret we cannot offer sponsorship and this position will require attending site regularly so a full driving license is a requirement.

  • Confident in communicating with Trust stakeholders and technology leaders, both within and outside of the organisation.

Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent relevant in depth experience in an Ambulance Service environment.

  • Proven record of driving technology best practice in a healthcare environment.
