Job summary

Connect44 GmbH is seeking a motivated Electrical Design Engineer & Surveyor to strengthen our telecoms team in Manchester. The role covers detailed electrical design, site surveys, and ensuring regulatory compliance across projects.

You will produce designs, drawings, and calculations, sign off on schemes, and support project delivery while liaising with clients and stakeholders. A solid background in BS 7671 and related standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical design for telecoms projects.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings and standards.
• Familiarity with CDM Regulations and safety requirements.
• Experience with electrical site surveys.
• Knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and current electrical legislation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed design and electrical site surveys to assess installations and project requirements.
• Assist electrical department by producing electrical designs, drawings, calculations, and technical documentation for a range of projects.
• Review, verify, and sign off electrical designs for regulatory compliance and standards.
• Ensure designs comply with BS 7671, Electricity at Work Regulations, Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
• Undertake load calculations, cable sizing, fault level calculations, voltage drop calculations, and protection coordination.
• Oversee preparation of electrical schematics and layouts using CAD as required.
• Provide technical support to project managers, engineers, and installation teams throughout delivery.
• Identify design risks and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, DNOs, and other stakeholders.
• Review design changes for technical compliance before approval.
• Maintain accurate design records and technical documentation.
• Assist in developing engineering standards and best practices.
• Ensure all work adheres to Health & Safety policies and CDM Regulations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in the engineering function.

City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent

Full UK Driving Licence

IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification
