Job summary

A growing care company in England is seeking support workers for residential care of young adults with learning difficulties. The role entails assisting young adults aged 16-18 in developing life skills and promoting self-sufficiency. Successful candidates will provide emotional support and guidance while working in shifts at the Kirkby facility. Job description
Overview

A great opportunity to work with an established and growing care company providing residential live in support and supported accommodation support for children and young adults with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour. They are always growing and take pride in the support they give the children - they believe that setting them up with the life skills now will help them turn into well rounded members of the community. Their staff are always on hand to provide emotional support as well as helping to teach and develop the children for the future.

Responsibilities
  • Based in a group supported home for young people (16-18 years old), a self‑contained flat complex
  • Working 2 shifts per week (10am till 10am next day is a shift)
  • Based at our Kirkby facility
  • Working with male and female young adults from 16-18 years old
  • Supporting the young adult with preparing them for living alone and helping them navigate self‑sufficiency and growing into a responsible adult
  • Making sure they are supported emotionally as well so they can work towards no longer needing support as they grow older
Salary and benefits
  • £13.03 without the NVQ Level 3 OR £14.51 if you already have it
  • £60 per sleep‑in - additionally paid for 32.5 hours per week on the above rate
  • 224 hours holiday per year – you get an extra 2 days when you have been there 2 years
  • Bank holidays paid at x1.5

Qualifications / Experience / Requirements
  • Living within travelling distance to the home in Kirkby
  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Experience working with children or young adults within either a home or assisted living setting; experience in assisted/supported living for adult care is also considered
