Job summary

Skipton Building Society is seeking a Technology, Transformation & Resilience Risk Oversight Lead to provide independent second line risk support across information security, technology, AI, data and operational resilience. Qualifications

• Relevant professional qualification or comparable risk, technology or information security certification.
• Strong experience across information security, technology risk, operational resilience and enterprise risk management.
• Proven track record of second line risk oversight, assurance, control evaluation and risk assessment within a regulated environment.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and present confidently to senior leaders and committees.
• Experience leading teams, strategic initiatives and multiple workstreams, delivering high quality outcomes and driving continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of risk reporting and governance, ideally gained within Financial Services or another highly regulated sector.

Responsibilities

• Assess the effectiveness of risk management activities, controls and mitigation plans, ensuring key risks and issues are appropriately escalated.
• Deliver second line risk-based oversight of cyber security, technology risk, AI governance, data risk, operational resilience and strategic business change.
• Produce insightful second line risk reporting and analysis for senior leaders and Executive Committees, identifying trends, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Lead second line thematic reviews, risk assessments and follow up activity to strengthen controls, address root causes and prevent recurrence of significant risk events.
• Act as a trusted risk advisor, promoting a strong risk culture through effective challenge, guidance, training and stakeholder engagement.

Job introduction

Play a key role in strengthening the Society’s resilience by providing expert second line support, oversight, challenge and assurance across information security, technology, AI, data, change and operational resilience risks. Working with the Society’s operational risk team, you’ll help ensure effective risk mitigation strategies are in place, enabling the business to operate safely, compliantly and with confidence. Combining technical expertise with strong commercial awareness, you'll influence decision making and build trusted relationships across the organisation.

What You’ll Do

As a Technology, Transformation & Resilience Risk Oversight Lead you will be a trusted second line risk expert; you'll provide independent risk support, oversight, challenge and assurance across information security, technology, AI, data, change and operational resilience risks, helping to ensure robust risk management and long term organisational resilience.

Your key responsibilities will also include:

• Assess the effectiveness of risk management activities, controls and mitigation plans, ensuring key risks and issues are appropriately escalated.

What You’ll Need

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Relevant professional qualification or a comparable risk, technology or information security certification.

• Strong experience across information security, technology risk, operational resilience and enterprise risk management.

• Proven track record of providing second line risk oversight, assurance, control evaluation and risk assessment within a regulated environment.

• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and present confidently to senior leaders and committees.

• Experience leading teams, strategic initiatives and multiple workstreams, delivering high quality outcomes and driving continuous improvement.
